Today I woke up to our dore bell ringing. It was Vikey our secetary and she sead that we were late to class. I had thought that my 8:00 am class started on Thursday but I figured I was wrong and rushed down stairs after geting drest and was still in a sleepy dase when I asked here what where class was meeting. It turned out hat it was Benet my roomate who was late and I was all right as far as classes go. I ended up eating some breakfast and studies for our quiz for bible class earler this morning.

Today is joust another regular day of classes. We ended up having a make up day for HUM 270 this afternoon to help us get throu the miteral for test on Saterday night. Trip to Athens

Tuesday May 24, 2005

This morning I woke up bright and early and came down for break fast at 6:40 am. At breakfast many of the people who had hard boiled eges that were from todays bach had two yoks in them. That was intersting. Once break fast was over it was off to finish getting redy for our trip into Athans on the bus to go see the Acropolus, Parthonon, Marze hill and Areopogon. The buss puled out at little befor 7:00.

Today was a ausom day. It was unbelevable in many ways to think that I was standing in so many of of the places that I have heard about in the bible or in classes growing up. It was amazing. It was defently one of the hilights of the time that I have spent here so far. One thing that I was suprized about is that I did not seam to get very tired as we went throu the day and that did not seem like tomuch information. I seemed to asorbe the info along with the sroundings around me.

Acroplis

We arived and started our tour joust out side of the theater that is joust outside the walled ariea of the Aropolus. We use wirless head sets as we tour places with our tour guid having a mike so that we can here the tour guid speaking in our ear and realy makes a big difference in trying to hear what is going on. Mine kep sorting out at the verie begining and I had to get a new ear peace but othe than that the day went realy smoothly.

Ampatheater

This was neet to see how the seats are built into the side of the heal and to think of all the marble that would have had to be moved and carved out to make it what it is today. I am defently going to try to come see some event deuring the sumester here if posible.

Parthonon

Being able to see the Parthionon up close and personal for the first time was defently a hilight of the day along with getting to be on Marze hill. The Parthonon was much biger than I had amigined it to be. All the detal that went into making it and the lijistics of being able to move that much stone and marble is hard to beleve that they built such amzing structurs as this. One disipointing thing was the fact of all the restoration work that is going on that caused it not to look like it does with out all the scafling aroind it, but still was amzing sight. Once the restorations are compleat if ever it will be neet to see what it once looked like. The details that went into each of the freazes and the size of everting. Words can’t describe it.

Marze Hill

This was probly the hilight of the day. Being at the place where Paul might have deliverd his speach to the Areopogous. The steps that I went up were well worn and the rock was much jaged than I would have expected it to be. It was also much smaller and closer to the Parthon that I had amjened. They realy are right next to each other in proximity. I had amjened it being a 1/2 mile away or so on a hier hill off in the distance similar to the hill where the man had his toum to the left looking out from the Entence gate steps to the Acopolus. Being able to sing and to here the scriptur read is defently someting that I will never forget. Was the hilight of my day and might be of my trip.

lunch

Today we ate a nice 4 cours lunch. It was very good. Here are some photoes of some of the things that we ate. During the lunch the water bought us some more watter and when I went to set the jar of watter down it barly tuched one of the other dirking glases on the table and it shaterd. This was very suprizing and unexpected. The only ting that I can thing is that the glass was made out of cristal and was older and had minor fracturs in it all read. Between the wormer watter, worm air, and the cold glass alll comming in contat is what caused it to break. All around this was very odd.

When I went to the rest room this was an intersting expernce. It was a short hallway off the kitchen for both men and wemon and aobut 4 feet wide. In side a smalll room was 2 dores that lead to men and wemons restroom and they both saired a sink out side. Was tight quorters and like a party in many wasy as we all went to go the rest rooms.

watter weal / market

The watter clock was very cool. I love looking at injinutive tings and it was neet to see some of there inventions. The differnt acuducts and restroom fesilities were also interesting and to thingk about all the tecnoligy that they had for there day. Was very amazing.

Another thing that was neet was the marke place. To think of Paul woking throu here as he bought suplyes and touced to people about Christ. To be able to wauck where he probly had waucked at one poiont in time. The pilers and all the marbal was also inpresive. The details that were on the top of each of the colums and to thing that this structure at oen time had a roof on it was also somting amzing to think about. To have such a larg span and the detal every where was realy neet to think about.

Back at Portrafti Supper

ended up going out to eat. We ended up at a place on the board wack over looking the sea. The food was very good. The wate did not speak english so our ordering and comunication was intersting. I ended up haveing a sanwich with pork on peta bread. It was very good. I also had some frise and bread. At the end when we left the water came back saying that we did not pay enouf signling by writing on peac of paer a number and pointing at us and then wrighting what shoud have payed. They had mis counted the money I gues. We had actulay given more thatn enouf and included a nice tip but for what ever reason they miss some of the money as they counted it. The ended up figuring it out befor we payed more. Was saying we were down 10 earo wich is a lot of money.

Worked on home work in the evening and was exosted after the long day of wacking. Big day of classes tomao but all is going well over all.
